About the position

Idaho Fish and Game is hiring for a Maintenance Craftsman (Fishing and Boating Access) position in the Salmon area. Job duties include utilizing a variety of skills to maintain 30 fishing and boating access sites and other facilities and structures located throughout the Salmon region. The position requires daily travel from the Salmon regional office. 

General Information
This is a temporary 8-month position with benefits that is based out of the Salmon Regional Office 99 Hwy 93 North, Salmon, ID 83467.

Workdays are typically 10 hour days Monday-Thursday, however, the position hours/week are flexible between 20-40 hours/week. Benefits options will be offered depending on preferred work schedule.

With or without reasonable accommodations, incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Qualifications
The applicant must demonstrate work experience and/or personality traits that lead the prospective employer to believe they are willing to work diligently and independently with limited supervision.
Possess the ability to interact with the public in a professional, safe, and courteous manner.
Possess general knowledge in construction and maintenance skills.
Possess the ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment such as pressure washers, weed eaters, lawn mowers and irrigation pumps.

Possess the ability to drive light truck and trailer to haul equipment.

Possess basic computer skills and ability to use and respond to emails and text messages.

Possess basic record keeping of access records.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Applicants will be given additional consideration if they:
• Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Possess an Herbicide Applicators license
• Possess groundskeeping or landscaping experience
Responsibilities
Provide general maintenance services for ~30 fishing and boating access sites including facilities and other projects throughout the region.
Restroom cleaning, maintenance, and site cleanup.
Transport equipment and operate mowers, tractors, and other equipment for access projects.
Conduct weed management with a combination of mechanical removal and spraying.

Assist with design and development of new access sites and projects.

Research, coordinate, and orders products and machinery as needed for access and facility projects.
Disseminating information to the recreating public.
