About the position

The Cabinet Gorge Fish Hatchery is currently seeking one Fisheries Biological Aide to assist permanent hatchery staff with the daily operation of a resident fish hatchery.  This position is a 5-month position and will work, on average, 40 hours per week.  Work schedules will include holidays and weekends.

The Cabinet Gorge Fish Hatchery is the furthest north state operated fish hatchery in Idaho.  It is located 8 miles east of the town of Clark Fork.  Approximately 8 million late spawning Kokanee eggs are collected to fulfill Kokanee stocking requests throughout the state.  The hatchery operates a remote fish trap on Granite Creek, off Lake Pend Oreille and hand spawns Kokanee at that location.  Eggs are hauled back to the main hatchery for rearing.  Cabinet Gorge Fish Hatchery also houses the state of Idaho’s Westslope Cutthroat Trout Broodstock.  Fish are spawned at the main hatchery, eggs are then incubated and shipped to other hatcheries in the state to fulfill high mountain lake stocking requests.  Cabinet Gorge Fish Hatchery fills lowland and mountain lake stocking requests for Westslope Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee and other species.
