The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is seeking a Financial Officer to join our team. This position is part of the Department’s Administration Bureau team that is located at our Headquarters office, situated adjacent to the Boise Greenbelt, the MK Nature Center, and the Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise.

Responsibilities:
- Reviews annual legislative budget submission for accuracy and quality, also ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
- Provide leadership, direction, and vision for a team of professional-level fiscal staff.
- Develops and recommends agency fiscal policies and procedures.
- Proactively monitors agency cash flow and appropriation, advising Bureau Chief of potential issues as they arise.
- Reviews and approves journal entries, ensuring accuracy of general ledger accounting.
- Hires, trains, directs, and evaluates the performance of fiscal managers and staff.
- Plans, develops, and directs agency procurement functions, to acquire goods and services ensuring compliance with applicable state and Department of Administration Laws, rules, and regulations.
- Serves as primary backup to the Financial Executive Officer (Administration Bureau Chief).
- Reviews, analyzes, interprets, and prepares a variety of financial, statistical, and budgetary data.
- Oversees and prepares financial reports and proposals, including the negotiated indirect rate cost proposal.
- Serves as primary respondent and coordinator of financial audits (external and internal)
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. (Typically gained by at least four years of professional work experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR an associate degree in accounting and at least two years of professional work experience such as an accountant or equivalent.)
- Good knowledge of management practices. (Typically gained by at least three years of full-time work experience applying management practices OR an applicable four-year degree or equivalent college level coursework related to management and at least two years of full-time work experience applying management practices.)
- Experience supervising others. (Typically gained by at least two years of full-time work experience with direct responsibility for hiring employees, assigning and reviewing the work of others, completing performance evaluations, and participating in problem-solving procedures.)
- Experience auditing and interpreting computerized financial reports and data. (Typically gained by at least two years of professional level experience auditing and interpreting computerized financial reports and data as part of your primary job responsibilities.
- Experience auditing or designing and maintaining computerized financial reporting systems and subsystems. (Typically gained by at least two years of professional level experience auditing or designing and maintaining computerized financial reporting systems and subsystems as part of your primary job responsibilities.)
- Experience auditing or establishing internal financial reporting controls. (Typically gained by at least two years of professional level experience auditing or establishing internal financial reporting controls as part of your primary job responsibilities.)
- Preparing financial management or audit reports. (Typically gained by at least two years of professional level experience preparing financial management or audit reports as part of your primary job responsibilities.)
- Experience preparing and making oral presentations. (Typically met by at least two years of professional level experience preparing and making oral presentations to stakeholders and other groups as part of your primary job responsibilities.)
