About the position

Assist in the preparation and analysis of large volumes of samples in a fish health/pathology lab.  Typical duties include operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, autoclaves, dishwashers, balances, and pipettes; washing/sterilizing glassware; monitoring supplies inventory; preparing reagents and media; processing fish and tissue samples for bacteriology, virology, parasitology and molecular testing; occasional field sampling; and laboratory records-keeping.  

Qualifications
Applicants must have some laboratory experience; exhibit basic mathematic competency (i.e., be able to calculate concentrations and dilutions), reliability, and workplace ethics; possess strong communication, organizational, and time management skills; and be able to follow oral and written instructions. Previous experience, coursework, or training in fisheries, animal science or clinical laboratory is desirable.
